My Family's Coffee Cake
I am so happy to share this recipe today, friends. I treasure family recipes - tastes and smells that capture our hearts and minds and instantly transfer us to a place or a person. Coffee cake always makes me think of my mama. One smell and it's like she's giving me a hug from Heaven! I made this recipe for a beach weekend celebrating my cousins upcoming marriage, and it was a hit as always. It tastes great alongside any brunch menu, and especially delish when you dip it in your coffee!! Yum, yum, yum!
We went to Kiawah this past weekend to celebrate my cousin Julia's Bachelorette weekend! For those of you who don't know me personally, I may as well call Julia my sister. When we were younger and when my mom was really sick, we practically shared a bedroom with twin beds for years, so we are very very close. We had such a great time! I shared some photos from our trip throughout the post.
Honestly, I just have to say that I think this pic is so cool ^^!!
Anyone else want to go diving into that icing with me?!
1 box yellow cake mix
1 cup sour cream
3/4 cup oil
3 tbsp flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
4 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 tbsp milk
Mix all cake ingredients together adding eggs last.
Layer 1/2 cake mix, 1/2 spice mix, remaining cake mix.
Bake at 325 about an hour.
After completely cooled, drizzle with glaze and top with remaining nut mixture.
I hope you enjoy this cake as much as I do!! What are some of your favorite family recipes!?
